Skin and nail management

General foot care is important for the prevention and management of nail and skin problems. The management involves managing nails, debridement of corns and callus as well as management of ingrown toe nails and various skin concerns.

Diabetic Foot Care

Due to the poor sensation in the lower limb with diabetes (particularly in the feet) issues such as poor circulation and slow healing occur, every client with diabetes will undergo at a minimum an annual neurovascular appointment with regular foot care appointments to ensure the skin and nails for the foot are well cared for and maintained.

Orthoses (Foot Orthotics and Ankle Foot Orthotics)

Orthotic devices or Orthoses can be beneficial in the overall management of many foot, ankle and lower leg conditions. The aim of an orthotic device is to alter excess load on the affected part of your body.

 

Ingrown toenail mangement

A very common yet painful issue podiatrists manage is ingrown toenails. They can come about for many different reasons and can commonly be removed with minimal or no discomfort by your podiatrist. Sometimes a procedure conducted with Local Anaesthetic may be preformed but the utmost care will be given to your personal preference and situation

Sport Injuries

A Podiatrist will assist in the rehabilitation of acute and long term/chronic sports injuries. Initial injury management focuses on reducing pain, swelling and unloading the stressed tissue. A management plan is used to optimise recovery & reduce de-conditioning. Always, plan will include techniques to reduce the likelihood of re-injury.

Paediatric Assessment

Flat feet in children is a common concern for parents. Many parents will seek the opinion of a podiatrist to ensure their child is going through β€˜regular development, if their child is experiencing pain, or is clumsy and not keeping up with their peers. Children also commonly present with pain through many areas of the foot and ankle that your podiatrist can assess, advise and manage.
